How To Cope With The Stress While Awaiting Your Matric Results
1. Be Mindful
Mindfulness can help with stress that you are experiencing from your long awaited matric results. Have you heard the phrase, “Be Mindful”?
To be “mindful” is to pay attention to the present moment in a non-judgmental way. Being mindful allows us to pay attention to what is happening around us in the present time, without worrying about the future or regretting the past.
At this point in your life, your school years are finally behind you and your career lies ahead. You are at an exciting, albeit overwhelming time of your life.
2. Exercise
Not only does exercise benefit your overall health and well-being, it has some direct stress management benefits!
Your brain has feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins, and exercise is well known to boost your endorphins.
3. Try Healthy Eating
Healthy body = healthy mind!
Consuming fruits and vegetables that contain vitamins and minerals is important as these work to neutralize harmful molecules produced when your body is under stress.
Did you know that nutrients from your food can also help improve the blood flow in your body?
4. Get Organized
Getting organized helps you feel more in control of your environment around you. Awaiting your Matric results can get very overwhelming, very quickly! Try and organize not only your environment, but also your thoughts. Having control over what is around you can give you a sense of certainty, especially during such an uncertain time.
5. Connect With Your Peers
Know that you are not alone! Your peers around you are in the same situation that you are. Connect with your peers and share your views and feelings of your matric result anticipation. By talking about your feelings with people who are going through the same situation that you are in, you can offer helpful tips and tricks to get you through this stressful period and also benefit from theirs. This increases your sense of belonging and purpose.
